fix the error Unable to install Printer Operation could not be completed 0x000003eb

The error “Unable to install Printer.Operation could not be completed” occurs during the installation of the printer driver, sometimes it can also occur during use. This error is often seen when you install drivers on newly updated computers or reinstall the operating system. If you encounter this error message during Canon / HP / EPSON printer / copier driver installation … try the following 2 solutions.

Method 1: Turn on / restart (Start / Restart) Print Spooler service

Check if Print Spooler Service is running. If Print Spooler Service is not running, you cannot install and use the printer.

Do the following:

1. Press the Win+R key combination simultaneously (Windows key and R key to open the Run dialog box.

2. Type services.msc and click OK .

3. Find the Print Spooler line in the list of services. Double-click to open the settings drop-down.

4. If “Service status” is off (Stopped), click the Start button. Note “Startup type” must be set to Automatic. Then click OK to save the settings.

5. Restart the computer and perform the installation again. If it still doesn’t fix it, proceed to method 2.

Method 2: Delete Printer Keys in Registry and Reinstall Printer Driver

The reason is that the driver of the current printer is in conflict with the driver of the previous printer that was installed on the computer. In this case you must proceed to delete some printer keys in the Windows Registry.

First, Stop (Stop) “Print Spooler” service (Refer to method 1). Then perform the following steps:

1. Delete everything in the following folders:



2.Press the Win+R key combination (Windows key and R key at the same time to open the Run dialog box.

3. Type regedit and click OK to open the Registry window.

4. Find the following Registry key

For 32-bit Windows operating systems:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers\Version-x

(Note: Version-x may not be the same between computers. In this case, my machine is Version-3)

With Windows 64-bit operating system:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x64\Drivers\Version-x

(Note: Version-x may not be the same between computers. In this case, my machine is Version-3)

5. Click on this folder and you will see all the registry keys about the printer in this folder . Right-click on the printer registry entry (registry entry) to be deleted, select Delete . Delete all keys in this folder.

6. Start “Print Spooler” service (refer to method 1).

7. Restart the computer.

8. Perform a reinstall of the printer driver.
